Robert Berry retired from the United States Coast Guard after twenty years of service as a federal law enforcement officer and basic training drill instructor. In his final three-and-a-half years of service, he was the lead drill instructor. While in the Coast Guard, he was one of the few graduates of the US Army Sergeants Major Academy and perhaps the only Coast Guard graduate of the US Army’s Combatives Instructor Course. He then taught the first classes to Coast Guard law enforcement students in San Diego, CA. Rob and his wife Carol have five children who served in the USA, USAF, and USMC.

Rob has held numerous coaching positions, including professional track coach, collegiate track coach, and local high school football and track coach. He also spent three years as a ski instructor at Winter Park Resort.

In his earlier years, growing up in rural, upstate New York, Rob was introduced to tools and tractors as he worked on a farm. While in the military, Rob and Carol owned several rental homes and assumed various maintenance responsibilities. He also became the Building Manager for the Coast Guard’s largest hospital in Cape May, NJ. In this position, he oversaw maintenance schedules, taught various maintenance skills, and managed large remodeling projects. Rob also owned a landscaping company in New Jersey.

Upon retiring from service, Rob moved into coaching at the University of Pennsylvania and took on the responsibility of maintaining parts of Franklin Field. He then moved to Colorado to establish the Colorado Track Club and took a role at Snow Mountain Ranch. Here, he managed the housekeeping staff and dealt with a wide range of maintenance issues.

Rob, now a resident of the Serenity Park / Flying Horse neighborhood, has decades of expertise in fixing things. His skills include electrical work, basic framing, and a myriad of DIY jobs. He is equipped with a full line-up of tools and is certified in flood and fire mitigation. Currently, he is working towards gaining his tree license (arborist) and home mold abatement certifications.
